Great for those interested in supporting a local team but can’t commit to a coaching role or attend every practice. These roles support coaches with practice setups, drills, chaperoning, and some administrative needs. These opportunities vary based on the specific needs of each area and offer flexibility for those who may not be able to attend every practice or game.
Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, complete the online volunteer application, background check (when over 18), and complete Protective Behaviors, an online training course. This volunteer role is ideal for those who want to work with a team, supporting both athletes and coaches.

The current Special Olympics Virginia Athlete Registration packet consists of six (6) pages. Athletes must have a valid and complete registration packet on file with SOVA before beginning any participation (training, practices or games). Registration packets must be redone annually in order for an athlete to be eligible.
